It’s a perfect storm: a hurricane brewing off the Atlantic, a possible tsunami in the Pacific, and a blizzard across the Midwest. And all this as NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month, is upon us. But here at Elite Editing, we look at things with the glass half full—if you still have running water at all, all of this crazy weather may actually have its benefits.
You can write by candlelight. You don’t need electricity to write the next great novel! In fact, you might even find the dim lighting and stormy weather inspiring.
You’ll have plenty of free time. For the millions of us on the East Coast who will be affected by Hurricane Sandy, we’re hunkering down, prepping for a few days of rain, winds, and school and office closings (not us—we’re always open!). So put this time to good use.
You can use the stormy weather as a backdrop. A hurricane, a dark stormy night, or even the calm before the storm can all set the scene for your novel. If not, here are a few more tips on where to find inspiration for your novel.
No power means no distractions. Power could be down for hours if not days, which means no tweeting, blogging, Facebooking, G-chatting, Googling, etc. Nothing but you and your pen. So take advantage and get writing!
